CEO's Note - 5 July 2024

Travelling throughout our region talking to business, industry and government I’ve noticed a common theme in our discussions which relates to jobs for our young people and what the future will look like for the new energy and resources employment market.

I’m excited to announce that on Wednesday 6 November RDA Orana will host our inaugural Youth Forum. The event will provide an opportunity for our young people from across the region to engage with business, industry, tertiary education and apprenticeship providers.

The Forum will include seminars as well as exhibition sites and interactive workshops so students can gain an understanding of the prospects available to them in the future.

Renewable energy is transforming the job market of the future, creating new career opportunities, and shaping the skills and education needed for success. As the world shifts toward a more sustainable energy future, the demand for renewable energy jobs is on the rise.

The renewable energy sector is expected to produce nearly 30,000 jobs over the next few years across the country as we work towards an emissions reduction. These are new jobs, new sectors in an industry that is emerging in front of us - how do we prepare the next generation?

To help prepare for the future and fill the skill gaps, the Orana Youth Forum will partner with industry, business, universities and training providers to provide a one-stop shop for employment and career needs, featuring a diverse range of industries and sectors that will provide different job prospects, educational programs and vocational training options available in the region.

If your business would like to come on board this exciting journey to create an event not previously held in the region, please reach out.

Cheers for now

Brewarrina Blizzard

A blizzard will hit Brewarrina on Monday 8 July turning the town from red to white when the icy Brewarrina Blizzard returns. A full-sized ice-skating rink is not something you’d expect to find in outback NSW, but that’s exactly what’s happening in downtown Brewarrina. From Monday 8 July to Sunday 14 July, locals, travellers and the entire region can experience ice skating. And best of all, it’s free!
